Caporal, Grenadier, French Consular Guard 1800, Napoleonic Figurine, Collectable Figurine, Foot Soldier Figurine
Infantry of the Napoleonic wars, a reproduction of soldiers from different eras to trace the evolution and history, reproduced in standard 1/30th, or 54mm, a collection of Del Prado.
The figurines are made in a stable alloy of lead and zinc, with a remarkable finish, both in terms of casting, as paint. Hand painted.
The Consuls' Guard originated from the various guards responsible for the security of the legislative and executive bodies created from 1789. The future Republican Guard appeared in 1789. The company of guards of the provost of the hotel under the orders of Bailly was intended to ensure the safety of the deputies. The deputies named it "guard of the National Assembly". A decree of May 10, 1791 changed this name to "national gendarmes". A decree of May 15, 1791 called it "Grenadier’s gendarmes near the convention". The Guard was intended to ensure the security of the Convention. In practice, they were called "guards of the Convention".
On October 26, 1795, the Convention was dissolved. The Guard would protect the new legislative body and would be called "guard of the legislative body". The Directory also had its guard called "constitutional guard of the Directory", instituted by article 166 of the constitution. After the coup d'état of 18 Brumaire, Bonaparte reorganized the two guards into a single one called the Consuls' Guard by a decree of November 28, 1799, ordering the merger of the guard of the legislative body and the guard of the Directory.
